VALET PARKING HYBRID APP (Excel + .NET App)

An existing Excel based Valet Parking application was enhanced to include mobile web apps for parking staff. Excel was used as the main dashboard due to its inbuilt analytics, and was connected to the cloud based MS SQL DB. Parking staff use a web app connected to the same DB giving them parking bay inbound and outbound control.

This project demonstrates Excels excellent ability to act as a valuable and agile component in a .NET application hybrid model.

PRICE INCREASE ANALYSIS TOOL

Recognising the agility of Excel formulas it was decided to analyse price increase policies within Excel as opposed to developing a similar utility within the organisations ERP system. we developed a tool that collected data from the Oracle DB, processed and massaged pricing policies within the data and summarised the impact of pricing scenarios in a dashboard for management. Once finalised the pricing data was returned to Oracle for final processing by the ERP system and published out to several other workbooks .

This project demonstrates Excels excellent ability to act as an agile and rapid development environment that includes data processing and reporting along with its inbuilt spreadsheet functionality.

RANGE PLANNING AND OPEN TO BUY TOOLS

Inheriting a restricted spreadsheet model of many linked workbooks sharing workbook based data we implemented a SQL database backend for Range Planning data and connected the plans directly to the POS / Retail Management software for sales and stock data. This allowed the travelling buyers to use their spreadsheets conveniently whilst sharing data with each other and management. We also carried out extensive formula analysis and optimisation on the Open To Buy plan ensuring accurate management reporting and budgeting.

This project demonstrates Excels strength as a front end tool for multi-user data-driven applications and its ability to aggregate data from various sources.

E-COMMERCE SITE PRODUCT ADMIN

Operating a custom ASP.NET - MS SQL E-commerce site it was more agile to develop product management within Excel than to create complex product admin forms within the app. This allowed for easy use of pricing formulas, product categorisation as well as simple product creation, updating and deletion. Excel was also used to manage various site admin settings as their necessity was realised. Additionally, site enquiry data such as contact details were automatically processed using a connection to the Outlook Object model.

This project demonstrates Excels ability to act as an effective product catalogue administration tool and website admin tool.

CLAIM ANALYSIS REPORTING TOOL

Collecting claims analysis data from an MS SQL back end we created a set of management dashboards highlighting the data trends. Additionally, the data could then be further analysed by staff due to Excels familiar interface and staff skillsets.

This project demonstrates Excels ability to act as a user familiar analysis tool where doing so within custom software or ERP systems would not be time or cost-effective.

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

VBA, EDI Formats

This Excel workbook generated product SKU lines from a style and colour product level and then assigned auto-generated barcodes to products. Export formats were then prepared for import into the POS/E-commerce systems. Lookup tables generated for multiple currency functions. Nested lookups created for Category, Subcategory etc.

This project demonstrates Excels ability to use combined formulas and VBA programming logic to create data sets.

SHOPIFY SALES & FULLFILLMENTENT TOOL

VBA, Shopify API, Sales Analytics

Selling healthcare products to Americans via Shopify this client required a solution to sales analytics and logistics. Extracting sales from Shopify order shipping, addresses are then formatted for fulfilment and data sent to the logistics provider. Sales are then analysed for trends across multiple marketing channels as well as stock management. Some of these functions can be achieved with Shopify plugins but Excel offers a more powerful formula based approach as well as ease of data massaging using VBA.

This project demonstrates Excels excellent ability to act as a Shopify order management and sales analytics tool that is powerful and familiar to users.

BIG DATA CLIENT DATA ANALYSIS

After receiving granular client data from the clients' data warehouse service we analysed over 30M records. Data was then massaged as required using VBA to best shape the data for use with Pivot Tables using Power Pivot and Charts. Data was presented to the client as Trend summaries and charts.

This project demonstrates Excels ability to receive, massage and analyse large Enterprise datasets.

FLEET OPERATING ANALYTICS

After receiving various data feeds from the clients ERP system, other Excel wokbooks and user inputs we aggregated the waste management fleet operational data from > 30 locations. Data was analysed over fleet type, operating time, downtime, fuel costs etc. Data and chart-based reports were produced identifying granular operating costs per vehicle as well as any exceptions to fleet type, route type averages.

This project demonstrates Excels ability to provide powerful table based analysis using formulas alone.

SALES ANALYSIS AND E-COMMERCE ADMIN

Selling footwear across 100 stores globally, sales data reporting was limited within the ERP system. Excel proved to be a wise choice offering agility with reporting formats and allowing staff to dig deeper into specific datasets. Additionally, Excel was used to manage various processes within the e-commerce site such as switching discounts, price bands and product categories.
